Obituary for Roy Zackery Hofer

Hofer, Roy
February 13, 1981 - October 6, 2020

Roy was born in Morden, Manitoba on February 13, 1981 to Zacharias and Rebecca Hofer. He is the 3rd born of 7 children.

Although his life was cut short Roy's "larger than life" personality had him leaving this world having lived to the fullest. He had an adventurous and confident spirit and was never afraid to try anything even if only one time. Skydiving was something he didn't dare do twice.

Generosity was also one of his strong traits. It seemed at times to have no bounds. Wealth wasn't important to him and he loved spending his hard earned money on his family and loved ones. We will forever remember his visits and special gifts he brought whenever he dropped around.

His sense of humor was something you see only once in a lifetime, if you knew him. It was beyond compare. He could have you breathless with laughter at his bizarre stories then irritate you just as quickly and effortlessly. But whatever his mood was, you could tolerate it and couldn't help loving him. He thought very little about what other people thought of him and didn't care much about worldly pomp and prestige. He didn't care too much about himself, and always looked out for the other person.

It was during the last part of his life when he met our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And because of his walk with the Lord, the love of his life Starr-Ella came into his life. The short time they were together they brought a miracle into this world. A precious baby boy that Roy thought was "the best thing that ever happened to him". He embraced his role as a father just like he did everything else. Wholeheartedly, unselfish and passionately. And through all that, he matured with his walk in the Lord. He knew and believed that he would come empty handed before his God. Although his life ended much too soon, we take comfort in knowing that he loved the Lord and looked to Christ alone for his salvation. Even if it's hard to let go, we know he would want us to do what God instructs us to do in one of his favorite Bible verses: Psalm 46:10 be still and know that I am God...........

You went away so suddenly
We did not say goodbye
But brother's can never be parted
Precious memories never die
