Obituary for Robert Stanley Buckler

Robert (Bob) Stanley Buckler was born November 25, 1936, in Cochrane, Alberta and passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna Buckler; three children, Lloyd Buckler (Shelley), Brian Buckler (Charlotte), and Loretta Elsom (Jon Monk); and his grandchildren, which he was extremely proud of, Deanne Watts (Kevin), Ryan Buckler (Emily), Jessica Elsom, Ashley LaClaire (Mark), Nicole Buckler and Alicia Buckler; his three siblings, Richard Buckler (Ethel), Betty Ann Perkins and Earl Buckler; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley Buckler, and Pearl Buckler (Balderson).

Bob lived a very full life, having many jobs over the years but he loved being a crane truck driver the most as he could bring his dog with him to work. He was an avid dog lover who would tell stories to anyone that would listen. He loved his German Shepherds – Duke, Kodiak, Beli, and Colby and will rest in peace with them forever. Bob was extremely unselfish with his numerous talents and a pillar of the community, willing to help anyone in need, from home renovations, working on cars, you name it, he was a jack-of-all-trades, there to help and teach those that wanted to learn. Bob was also passionate about woodworking, making his bears for many people over the years and a variety of furniture pieces.

Special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Kai Yue Leung, nurses and all the staff at the Foothills Hospital for taking great care of Robert these last 3 months.

A family gathering in celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to South Alberta Multiple Myeloma Patient Society (SAMPS) or CNIB, both causes were very close to his heart.
