Raymond Richard Kopp
August 14, 2024 – February 26, 2024
Raymond Kopp, beloved husband of Patricia Kopp, passed peacefully among family in Calgary on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the age of 86.
He was the loving father of Darcy Kopp and Sandy (Rick) Van Rassel of Calgary. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Cody and Brittany Van Rassel, Allison and Ryan Kopp, and great grandchildren, Ryder and Rosie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Peter Kopp; brother Bob; and sister, Donna.
Ray was born August 14,1937 in Kerrobert, SK where he lived until he was 22, at which time he joined the RCMP. He trained for the musical ride and worked for many years in cattle investigations. He retired as Staff Sergeant in charge of Special Squad at the Calgary International Airport.
Ray was an accomplished horseman and excelled at handcrafting saddles and custom leatherwork. He was a self-taught musician, playing accordion and piano. He, Pat, and their kids spent many summers camping at Woods Lake where he loved to challenge all to a game of horseshoes. When they weren’t building and renovating houses, Ray and Pat loved to watch sports, especially hockey, curling and CFL football.
Ray was a kind, generous man who always gave more than he received.
