Obituary for Peter Washington Young
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Peter Young on January 2, 2021, at the age of 61 years. He was born on June 25, 1959, in Georgetown, Guyana before immigrating to Canada in October 1990. He had resided in Calgary, Alberta since arriving in Canada.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Horatio and Agnes Young, his brothers, William and Lincoln and his sister, Victoria.
Peter is survived by his siblings, Joy (Gene), Meiling (Basil), Arthur (Eula), Hoover (Mary Ann), Lennen (Margaret), his sister-in-law Zalema (Lincoln), his ex-wife Marlene and by his many nephews and nieces, Vonda (Peter), Collin, Steve (Usha), Theresa (Kelvin), Robert (Sylvia), Lincoln (Kimberly), Gina (Edriss), Victoria (Landon), Ryan, Alvin (Esther), Selena (Sean), Andre, Darren (Samantha), Justin, Sabrina (Corey) and Donita (Steve), as well as numerous great nephews and nieces.
Peter valued and cherished the many friends he made at GTM (Guyana & Trinidad Mutual Life Insurance Company), the first company he worked for in Guyana. After immigrating to Canada, he continued his career in the insurance field. He loved listening to the music of Jim Reeves and Anne Murray.
Peter’s ashes will be scattered on one of the many mountains in Alberta.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary for their care of Peter during his final days.
“Eternal rest grant unto Peter O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace Amen.” May his memory be a blessing.
