Obituary for Paul Wayne Hartsook

PAUL HARTSOOK
June 24, 1954 – January 6, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paul Hartsook on January 6, 2021 at the age of 66.

Born June 24, 1954 to Goldye and Lloyd Hartsook in Eston, Saskatchewan, Paul grew up farming with his parents and four siblings. In Eston, he married his wife of 46 years, Diane (Matchett), on May 11, 1974.

After completing his diploma in electronics engineering technology at SAIT in Calgary, Alberta, Paul was a technician for the Ministry of Transport in Watson Lake, Yukon and later transferred to the same position at Calgary International Airport.

Paul and Diane moved back to Eston, Saskatchewan to take over the family farm, where they raised their four children. In 1993, they returned to Calgary, where Paul spent the remainder of his years.

Blessed with a golden ear, he worked as an audio/visual technician for numerous churches and other ministries in Calgary and across Canada, most recently at Centre Street Church. With the humble heart of a servant, he made an impact on thousands of people over the years, bringing the soundtrack to countless events.

A true Renaissance man, Paul was a jack of all trades with a passion for tinkering: there was nothing he couldn’t fix, and nothing he would waste. A brilliant, kind-hearted man with a gentle touch, he was generous with his time and talents.

Predeceased by his father Lloyd and sister Gail, with whom he is now rejoicing in heaven, Paul will be lovingly remembered by his mother Goldye Hartsook; siblings Lorna (Bill) Latrace, Carol Veysey, Dave (Cheryl) Hartsook, and several nieces and nephews; his wife Diane and children Brent (Shelby) Hartsook (Kenadie, Kaija, Kael Lloyd, Kaleah, Kydon Paul), Nola (Joe) Sinanan (Shanae, Ariela), Darrell (Shauna) Hartsook, and Lanette (David) Brayer (Cadence, Quinn, Jackson).

A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held Friday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m. A live stream will be available here: Centre Street Church.

Memorial donations in Paul’s name may be made to United Youth Outreach.
