Paul Erik Baunsgaard Andersen
July 28, 1935 – December 8, 2023
It is with sadness we say goodbye to our father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Paul Andersen, who passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Friday December 8, 2023, at the age of 88.
Paul leaves behind his three sons, Perry (Sharon), John (Kerri) and Lars (Victoria); his grandchildren, Ashley (Brooke) , Mark (Taylor), Karina (Dave), Landon, Dillion, Jonathan, Kyle, Shawn (Taylor), and Ryleigh; great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Hayden, Brysen, Harper and Hudson; siblings, Jytte, Benny, Vibeke, Elin and Ilse and many nieces and nephews, all in Denmark, will also miss him. He was predeceased by his parents, Olga and Axel and by his loving grandson, Karsten Baunsgaard Andersen (2020).
Paul was born in Norre Snede, Denmark and came to Canada in 1957 with our mom, Ulla where he began working at Canada Safeway as a meat cutter until his retirement in 2000. He developed many friendships with fellow Danes and Canadians. The many family outings included camping and Danish gatherings that always included sitting around the dinner table eating Danish prepared food along with a beer and schnapps.
Paul wore out many dancing shoes as he could always be found every Friday night at the Danish Canadian club doing what he loved to do, dancing.
The family would like to pass along a thank you to the amazing staff at the Peter Lougheed hospital unit 49 for their kind, compassionate and professionalism in caring for dad in his final days; it was greatly appreciated by the family.
A private Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held by the immediate family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to a charity of your choice, which would mean a lot to him.
