Obituary for Marvin Willard Bent

Marvin Willard Bent
Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Marvin was born to Blair William Bent and Doris Mabel (Hindson) Bent on May 29, 1944, in Rapid City, Manitoba. Marvins's striking handsome looks remained throughout.

Raised on the family farm, Marv was molded with great character and learned the value of hard work at an early age. Childhood Sunday Anglican church attendance was always a must; adult years Marvin could be heard singing in tune with his favorite country songs (often with funny or silly poetic slant). Fond childhood memories as a star with the Neepawa Bantam BB hockey club winning provincial championships. Childhood developed skills as an avid curler and pool player later as an adult winning him spots at Las Vegas pool tournaments and in major competitions at both Alberta and British Columbia Curling events. Marvin reminisced how he loved his Air Cadet years, he said a doctors diagnosis of a heart murmur kept him out of the regular Air Force.

Marv arrived in Calgary in his twenties, his early career as a Calgary Policeman, later moving to excel at an impressive managerial career; helmed Western Geophysical’s seismology data processing and purchasing dept. His senior years did not slow him down, Marv explored his entrepreneurial skills and built from the ground up swimming pool business in Penticton BC; (active Kinsman member) and later M.R. Mover serving BC and AB. Several successful real estate transactions along the way. Always eager discussing local sports events with fellow employees; these employees often comment what a fantastic man Marvin is. Let’s not forget Marvin worked after school as a teenager changing movie reels in his hometown (western movies being his favorite) and as an adult he occasionally played an extra on Calgary movie sets.

Marv is survived by his only one brother, Dennis (Laurel) Bent. Early years Marv had a marriage and a child, Myles Bent, and a grandchild, Hope Bent. Marv settled into his most recent chapter of his life with his truly special loving caring family at Brenda Stratford Foundation (BSF) Cambridge Manor Stilton unit, where tears flow with Marv's absence surrounded with the love and care of his greater than twenty years loyal girlfriend, Heather Blakney.

Marv had a fantastic life and leaves behind wonderful memories that will be cherished. Oh my gosh Marv and Heather send love and a huge Thank you to the Family at BSF for the truly wonderful care!
