Obituary for Marjorie Beatrice Barnes (Watt)
MARJORIE B. BARNES
October 18, 1930 – April 2, 2021
The family of Marjorie Barnes is saddened to announce her passing on April 2, 2021 in the Palliative Care Unit at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Doug in 1989 in Osoyoos where they retired.
We will cherish our memories of her as a Mom, Sister (Kay and brother-in-law Vern Schlender), Grandmother, and Great Grandmother (GG to the little ones).
Her love for her children Linda, Bob, Kathy and Debbie, never wavered (although it was frequently tested). She welcomed her future sons in law (Nelson, Rick, Greg) and daughter in law (Velta) with open arms.
Her Grandchildren and their spouses (Blake/Shannon, Jared/Kei, Kim/Mike) and Greatgrandchildren (Alex, Chloe, and Lexi) held a special place in her heart. The feeling was mutual. A visit with GG was always a happy event. Her fourth Greatgrandchild (Mia) is expected soon.
It is challenging to sum up someone like Marjorie in a few sentences. She was wise, intelligent, caring, and loving. She was a female entrepreneur before it was acceptable to be one; had strong opinions but was not opinionated; was a great friend; willing to lend an ear or shoulder when needed; and kind to everyone she met.
But most of all, she was loving and loved. She will be missed.
