Marilyn Shirley Kay Gullett
On Friday, October 28, 2022, surrounded by her close family, Marilyn Shirley Kay Gullett (nee Wicke) of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 67 after a short but brave battle with cancer. Wife of 47 years to John, Mom to Dan (Shawna) and Jessica (Jesse), Grandmother to Tristan, Kai, Cali and Cameron, Marilyn loved and was loved dearly.
Marilyn was born and raised in Calgary and worked for many years as a teacher where she adored her students and enjoyed learning alongside them. In retirement, she followed her passion and traveled the world with her travel buddy and loving husband John. They met on an airplane in 1974 and never looked back. Always social and active Marilyn delighted in spending time with her family and friends and of course, her scrap-booking group. She was a master cook and loved trying out new recipes. Her gravy and rouladen will especially be missed.
Marilyn was loving and kind and made everyone feel welcome. Her hugs will never be forgotten. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Marilyn is survived by her brother Harold, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Rockyview Hospital Unit 73 and Unit 82 for their compassion and support for Marilyn’s care in her final days. A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, messages of kindness are much appreciated.
