Peggy Murakami
July 27th, 1944 - Sunday, May 21st, 2023
Peggy passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Newport Harbour Care Centre at the age of 78 years.
Born on July 27, 1944 in Toronto, ON, she married her loving husband, Jim Murakami, in Richmond Hill in March 1972. They moved to Calgary in 1976, and shortly after came the birth of their son. Peggy is survived by husband Jim, son Jeff (Vicki), grandchildren Theo and Samantha, brothers Harrold and Glenn, sister Janice, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Fredric and Bernice, brother David, and nephew Eric.
Peggy enjoyed her role as an early elementary school teacher until her retirement in 1998. She was known for having a green thumb, as evidenced by her beautiful gardens and houseful of plants. Peggy was also a wonderful baker who could always be relied upon to bring dessert. She and Jim met many good friends over the years through their shared love of playing bridge.
The family would like to thank the staff at Newport Harbour Care Centre for their kindness and care. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or a charity of your choice.
