Obituary for Macaria Castillo

A loving sister, Aunt and a friend, Macaria Castillo’s life didn’t come to an end with her death.

Maricar passed away on January 26, 2023, at the age of 55 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

She devoted her life to her family. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her brothers, Sixto, Adriano, Jose and Emiliano and their families, all of Bauan, Batangas, Philippines. She will also be missed by nieces and nephews, Anastacia & Marvin Mindanao, Alvin and Glenn (and children), Arlene and her daughter Aeris, Angelo, Caillen; Charisse, Kenneth; Kevin, and Cassandra. Macaria was predeceased by her parents, Modesto and Olimpia Castillo.

Maricar was born in Bauan, Batangas, Philippines and graduated from Nursing there in 1992. Moved to Canada 23 years ago, she started working as a nanny, then worked in 7-11 for 17 years, she was also a Health Care Aide at the Intercare -Southwood Care Centre for twelve years. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Maricar. She loves cooking and writing recipes, (famous for her spaghetti and ginger beef). Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met, that's why she gained so many friends.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Choice Memorial (105, 4715 – 13 Street NE, Calgary, AB). A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Rd NE, Calgary, AB).
