Obituary for Lynne Colleen Rhyno (Moore)

Lynne Colleen Rhyno (Maitland) (Moore) September 7, 1943 – March 1, 2024

Lynne Colleen Rhyno (Maitland) (Moore), born on September 7, 1943, transitioned from this life on March 1, 2024. In her final days she was surrounded by the love of her family with amazing care from the team at South Health Campus.

Lynne was predeceased by her parents, Norma Edith Moore and Harry Thomas Moore, as well as her brother, Bryan Moore (Jane Moore). She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by her children, Lisa Jenkinson (Maitland) (Kevin Jenkinson) and James Jefferson Maitland; and her grandchildren, Jamie Walker (Jenkinson) (Aaron Walker) and Alexis Jenkinson. Throughout her life, Lynne was the epitome of devotion, not only as a loving wife to James Rhyno for 36 years but also as a beloved sister to Donna Shandro (Moore) (Bud Shandro). Her memory will be treasured by her nieces and nephews: Janene Di Piano (Shandro), Tyler Shandro, Collin Shandro, Evan Shandro, Dawn Beattie (Moore), Tory Moore, and Kevin Moore.

Lynne was born in Vancouver, where her father worked with CP Air during the war and then after worked as a buyer for Woodwards where the family travelled much of Western Canada. Finally, in her senior year of High School, the family settled in Calgary, and there she met her first love, James Maitland, at Western Canada High School. Lynne began her professional journey in the banking sector, commencing at TD Bank, where she dedicated herself until the joys of motherhood summoned her attention with the birth of her daughter, Lisa, then four years later, her son, JJ. Embracing her role as a devoted mother, Lynne temporarily set aside her career to focus entirely on her family. It wasn't until the mid-1980s that she rekindled her passion for banking and returned to finish her working years. Lynne concluded her professional journey as a Senior Financial Advisor with CIBC in Canmore.

In a beautiful chapter later in her life, Lynne married James Rhyno on May 2, 1987. Together, they savored adventures in hunting, competitive shooting, and the scenic landscapes of Banff and Canmore from 1991 to 2004.

In 2004, Lynne and Jim returned to Calgary, where they embraced the joys of retirement surrounded by cherished family and friends where they continued to love on their Springer Spaniels. Lynne's laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. Though she may have left this world, Lynne's spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joy.

A Celebration of Lynne's Life will take place on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Choice Memorial Rocky View Chapel (243256 Garden Road NE Rocky View, Alberta), with a reception immediately following the service.
