Obituary for Lynda Joanne Pendle (Haslam)

Lynda Pendle (Haslam) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Lynda is survived by her husband, Brian; son, Paul (Maria); son, Matthew (Shannon); and her daughter, Tamerin (Jay the favorite son in-law). Lynda’s children procreated well and gave her many grandchildren biological and reclaimed; Amanda, Chase, Gracelyn, Corbin, Calleigh, Claire, Norah, Molly, and Georgie-Lyn and a few great-grandtrolls. Lynda is also survived by her brother, Ross and sister, Donna, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Lynda was predeceased by way too many to list, but she did say she was excited to see them all and have her tea party.

Lynda was born and raised in Calgary, AB the youngest of four to Norah and Bud Haslam. She married Brian on his Birthday Sept 4, 1975. She did this so he never forgot their anniversary. Throughout the years she worked at The Tom Baker Cancer Centre, in all our schools, and for the Calgary Stampede. She loved to volunteer and was always involved in her kids extracurriculars. Often, found throwing bottles at people during bottle drives Yelling “incoming”. Many litters of puppies were raised out of the house as well. She loved her animals. When she was younger, she owned a horse with her Childhood friend, and she loved to tell stories of their rides. As her kids got older and parties happened, she was the orange juice mom. She always had orange juice on hand. She would always lend a “hand” to help someone cut their steak, if needed. Especially if they were victim to the infamous keg after grad. She was the best mom a kid could ask for, so much that our friends often popped by just to visit her and Dad. She taught us all how to laugh through the hard times. None of us would be the amazing humans we are today without her guidance growing up, sprinkled with a bit of dark humor.

We want to Thank and apologize to the staff on unit 47, Palliative Intensive care Unit at the Foothills Hospital. We laughed, we cried, and we maybe traumatized a nurse or two, I do hope the fourth-year nurse is okay. I could suggest a good therapist if needed. We could not have asked for better care.

Mom did not want anything big or formal. So instead, we will be having a Celebration of her wonderful life on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Cranston Community Centre (11 Cranarch Road SE, Calgary, AB).

Please come by tell us a story, give us a hug and Celebrate Lynda.

In lieu of flowers mom asked that donations be made to an animal charity of your choice.
