Obituary for Lyle Gordon Anderson

Lyle Gordon Anderson
April 17, 1948 - February 18, 2023

It is with a feeling of great loss that the family & friends of Lyle Gordon Anderson announce his passing on Saturday, February 18, 2023. The world has lost an extraordinary storyteller & the most amazing laugh that lit up a room.

Lyle was born on April 17, 1948 in Creston, British Columbia. He was the eldest child to the late Margaret Peltzer Anderson and Lloyd Anderson. Lyle spent his childhood in Creston, British Columbia on his family acreage with his grandparents, parents, & his two younger brothers. When he became of age he lived and worked all over the Kootenay’s. In the late 70’s Lyle & his family moved to Calgary, Alberta where he lived for most of years. Lyle was a floor layer for almost his entire life. He was sought out by many people because of his extraordinary eye for details and his ability to do extremely detailed work.

Lyle enjoyed spending time with eldest son and his family who live in Airdrie, Alberta. He also enjoyed spending time with his other children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren whenever they were in Calgary for a visit. In his spare time he loved to carve and draw abstract art. He was very talented at anything he enjoyed. Lyle lived his life as a free spirit & enjoyed every minute of it.

Surviving Lyle are his daughter, Dawn Merkl of Creston BC, sons, Stacey (Louisa) Anderson of Airdrie, AB, Kelly Anderson of Creston, BC, Justin Anderson of Harbour Grace, NFLD; grandchildren, Daykota (Leigh) McNamar, Darianne McNamar, Chris Mottola, John Colley, Marina Colley, London Anderson, Mariah Anderson, and James Anderson; great grandchildren, Graham McNamar and Chase Brown; brothers, Bruce (Analee) Anderson of Creston, BC and Don (Joanne) Anderson Creston, BC; nephews, and nieces, cousins, and extended family.

Lyle was taken from us too soon, he still had so much more stories to tell & art to draw. We are all richer for having had Lyle in our lives. Rest Easy. Lyle’s family would like to thank the Prince Of Peace Harbour Staff, South Health Campus Staff & Volunteers, as well as Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services for all their love, kindness, and caring during all this difficult.

A very special thank you to Management & Staff at Best Western Executive Residency who have always made us feel like family and supported us through this difficult journey.

There will be No Service as per Lyle’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lyle’s memory to any Dementia or Alzheimer’s Society. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Lyle, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
