Obituary for Lilly Maria Cirankewitch

Lilly Maria Cirankewitch (Mueller)
December 13, 1929 to May 26, 2022

Lilly was born in 1929 in Alt Postal, Bessarabia, Romania. Lilly grew up in a family of 11 children. Having 6 older brothers paved the way for her to have a take-charge personality from an early age. She immigrated with the younger half of her family to Canada in 1952. Lilly married Leonard in 1955 and had 4 children. For decades she was self employed and entrepreneurial, including working extremely hard as a cook for Bible Colleges, Summer Camps and Care Homes.

Lilly moved to Lethbridge in 2007 where she was busy supporting many endeavors in her new condo – including gardening and hosting guests in her home. Lilly moved back to Calgary in 2017 and lived out the rest of her days there.

Lilly loved her siblings and her large extended family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren kept her young and brought her so much joy and treasured moments. Throughout their lives, her many beloved nieces and nephews would receive a call from Aunt Lil on their birthdays. She also loved to tell her stories and they have been treasured and enjoyed by even the youngest in the family. Her big heart extended to many who needed a second mother, offering them love, encouragement and sometimes a place to live! Lilly loved entertaining and having people over for coffee. She could not shed the habit of cooking in large quantities so would readily feed her friends and neighbours with the extras. Food was her art form and her love language.

Lilly loved the Lord and Church was her anchor. You did not have to be in her life very long to make it on her daily prayer list. Her strong faith and personal values meant that you always knew where you stood with Lilly as she was not shy to share her thoughts and ideas on almost any topic.

Lilly is loved and survived by her children, Harvey (Janice), Jeanette (Rod), Sharon (Mitch), Diane (Sean); her grandchildren, Jason (Kelsey), Nadine (Adam), Lisa (Brett), Olivia, Tess, and Jack; greatgrandchildren, George, Oliver, Éowyn and Hazel. She is also survived by her sisters, Millie (Emil), Annette, and brother, Richard. We know the dearly loved family who no longer walk with us here are greeting Lilly with joy as she has finally arrived home.

While we will miss walking on this earth with you, we know that you are now safe in the arms of Jesus.
Well done thou good and faithful servant.

A Private Graveside Service will be held for family at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church (2670 Radcliffe Drive SE, Calgary, AB).
