Obituary for Lawrence Marvin "Lorne" Wiebe

Lawrence (Lorne) Wiebe
May 11, 1934 - October 24, 2022

Born in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Dad was one of six children born to Tony and Mary Wiebe. He went to the local school, Green Farm, and later attended Briercrest in Caronport SK.

Dad was a City of Calgary transit and trolley driver, a farmer, realtor, used car dealer and he then, finally, ran his own lawn maintenance company up to the age of 75.

One of his favourite outings after retirement was to the “Golden Arches” for coffee and a muffin with friends or family.

Even though Dad may have slowed down a bit these last few years, he never lost his witty sense of humour, his use of one-liners, and he was often known to recite some poem that fit the occasion. He also had more time to read his Bible. He may be best remembered for his uncanny toughness and ability to endure pain (“It’s not so bad”.), his great work ethic, and his love and enjoyment of people. Family was very important to Dad. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, best man, and an awesome grandfather.

He leaves his wife Margery, daughter Rhonda DeMaere (Kevin), son Earl (Lee-Anne), grandson Nathan, and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Lois and Doris; brothers, Arthur, Ray, Rick and a grandson, Phillip (Philly).
