Kultar Singh Rai
December 11th, 1948 - Saturday, May 8th, 2021
On Saturday, May 8th, 2021 a beloved soul started his heavenly journey. Sardar Kultar Singh Rai passed away at the ICU at Rockyview Hospital due to Covid, at the age of 72.
Kultar Singh Rai was considered family to many because of his unique way to connect with other’s young and old. Along with strong work ethics, he was a very honest man and he was proud of his Sikhi and Punjabi heritage. He was a devoted husband to Yashpal Kaur Rai, who knew she had nothing to worry about, with him by her side. He was a father who was devoted to his principles, and a friend who was there for you when you needed him. He will be deeply missed by his son Chatan Singh Rai (Husband of Mandeep Kaur Rai), and daughter Amandeep Kaur Chauhan (Wife of Sukhjit Singh Chauhan). He was an amazing grandfather to his six grandchildren, with the names of Ekjot Singh Rai, Mahabir Singh Rai, Ekam Kaur Rai, Gurnek Singh Rai, Himmet Singh Chauhan and Japjeevan Kaur Chauhan.
Sardar Kultar Singh Rai immigrated to Canada in 1972 at the age of 23. His late brother Sardar Virinder Singh Rai and sister-in-law, Kashmir Kaur Rai helped establish his future here in Canada. He was fortunate enough to retire as a welder at the age of 59. He enjoyed retirement by spending time in both India and Canada, as well as enjoying quality time with his grandchildern.
In addition to his grandkids, he also was very close to his nephew Jagdev Singh Rai and family, nieces Parminder Kaur Antal and Family, Harminder Kaur Antal and Family, and Mandeep Kaur Thind and Family.
He was predeceased by his brother S.Virinder Singh Rai, father S.Ajit Singh Rai and mother Satnam Kaur Rai.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private Funeral Service will be held at Choice Memorial on Monday, May 17th. For those wishing to pay their respects, a visitation will be held at Choice Memorial (105-4715 13th Street NE) from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. As per AHS regulations there is a maximum of 10 people allowed for the visitation. You must register your name and telephone number in the RSVP link below if you wish to attend the visitation.
