Obituary for Karen Marie Evans
Karen Evans
June 22, 1942 - February 19, 2023
Karen passed away February 19, 2023 at Foothills Hospital after a sudden illness at the age of 80 years. Karen leaves behind her children, Tim (Stephanie), Cara, Jennifer (Kyle); grandchildren, Cole, Quinn, Jesse, Taylor and Samantha; sister, Judy; brother, Wayne (Trudy); nephews, Michael (Pearl), Kevin, Darcy, Trevor (Shannon); great niece, Ava and great nephew, Eli. Karen was predeceased by her husband, Guy and parents, Delmar and Gladys Nylin.
Karen was born and raised in Elkhorn, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg to attend Teacher's College. Karen moved to Dawson City, Yukon to teach, before moving and settling in Calgary. Karen taught elementary school until she had her own children. Once they were school aged, she worked at an out of school care and then became a pre-school teacher until retirement.
Karen was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and did anything for all. She loved to attend the theatre; enjoyed wine judging; had an amazing green thumb, and was a great cook and entertainer. Karen's love of animals was evident to all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Memorial donations in Karen’s name are gratefully accepted by the Calgary Humane Society.
The family would like to thank the medical staff in Emergency at South Health Campus, the Foothills Hospital staff in the ICU Department, Unit 57, Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care.
