John Ernest Miller
John was born in Semans, Saskatchewan on March 6, 1930 to Ernest and Dora Miller and on Friday, September 18, 2020, John Ernest Miller was called home to the with the Lord. John, beloved husband of Evelyn Miller, passed away at the Evanston Grand Village at the age of 90 years.
He was hard-working, creative, charming and was loved so very much by his family. He was known by many names – Dad, Grandpa, Papa, and The Man of Steel. He loved baseball and from 1949 – 1951, he played for the Regina Red Sox. During his work years, he had a Real Estate company in Calgary (in the early 1960’s) and then went on to Property Management in California, Nevada, and then back home to Calgary. He will be so greatly missed by his family and friends.
John will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Evelyn; children, Linda Hamill (Daryl) of Calgary and Brent Miller (Pat) of Calgary; grandchildren, John Miller (Debbie), Jennifer Butler (Chris), Sean Miller (Karen) and Kevin Miller (Monica Nguyen); great grandchildren, Brenden Miller, Nickolas Butler, Analea Miller, Emily Butler, Ella Miller, Jesse Miller and Greggory Butler as well as many friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Dora Miller and his sister, Jewel Miller.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Foundation, Alberta and NWT.
