Obituary for John Douglas Broney

Broney, John Douglas
November 23, 1955 – October 1, 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our brother, father, uncle and friend, John Douglas Broney, at the age of 63 surrounded by his family at his side.

John will be loved and forever missed by his daughter Alexa/Goose (Matt), and son Shane. His brother Jim; sisters, Shirley (Alvin), Rose, Karin (Terry), Leanne (Ken), and Paulette. He will be missed dearly by numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. John is predeceased by his ex-wife Lois; brothers, Richard and Jack; his mom and dad, Sadie and Tony.

John was born in Erickson, MB. At an early age, John was a jack-of-all-trades and began his career as a glazier in Winnipeg, MB and soon after moved to Calgary, AB where he continued working as one. He then became a groundsman for many years. You’d find him puttering around in the yard doing whatever he thought he could fix or wanted to create. He had a passion in home renovations, always lending a hand helping anyone who needed it. He took pride in his work. He loved golfing and spent countless hours on the golf course with his friends and family. There was no greater relaxation for him than spending time in the mountains, camping, boating, fishing, and sitting around a fire laughing with friends and family. Those closest to him will remember him as a hard worker, his creative ideas, a fan of his Edmonton Eskimos, finding treasures at yard sales, his sense of humor – always a prankster, and his love of children and animals.

John you are loved and you are dearly missed by everyone whose lives you touched. You will live on forever in our thoughts and hearts and never forgotten. We love you John. Be at peace. Your Family.
