Jennifer James 1968 - 2023

Jennifer James was all about love, fun, family, friendship, food, and dogs. A truly wonderful mix when put together. She was Jen, Jenn, Jennifer or JJ but most definitely not Jenny! She will be enormously missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know her.
She was the daughter of Vic and Myra Link, and sister to Terry (Dorothy) and Richard (David). Finally she was the best wife she could've ever been to Trevor (mother Ellen and brother Mark). All of whom are so sad to lose her from their lives.
Jen’s childhood molded her into the person she became. She loved taking part in sports, especially swimming, volleyball and basketball. The lake stories, skiing stories, vacation stories are endless. She has so many old school friendships that still exist today, again a testament to her.
Travel and having fun were her passion. She would work multiple jobs, save and go somewhere. South America, Europe, you name it, she wanted to go there. In 1991, this led to her becoming a camping tour leader. Showing North America to diverse travelers. She would have as much fun as her group, joining in bike rides, rafting and anything else she managed to squeeze in before doing her actual job!
In 1993 it was on one of these trips that she met Trevor. You could say the rest is history, and it was a fantastic history.
Married at Emerald Lake in 1996, then London England became her home. With that came Elli, the first of 5 wheaten terriers. Lots of dog walking, pubs and friends filled the years until 1999. That’s when Jen, Trevor and Elli moved to Calgary.
Everywhere Jen lived or worked resulted in lifelong friendships. Way too many to mention, but you know who you are. She was the social secretary of our lives and the glue keeping us all together. Organizing dinners, wine evenings, Christmas functions, vacations, walking. Basically everything good in life. She is going to be sorely missed by all our tremendous friends.
In 2004 she started her association with the non-profit PALS. She loved taking all our dogs to visit anyone needing the unconditional love of an animal. She started to work for PALS in 2019. It really was a passion for her. If you would like to donate to PALS, it would be a fitting tribute in lieu of flowers etc. They do incredible work.
Jen will be missed like no other and will be in our thoughts every day.
There will be a celebration of Jen’s life in Calgary at Bitter Sisters Brewing, 510 Heritage Drive SW on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 2pm until 5pm. If you knew her you are invited. In her words “no sadness, no black, drink be merry and tell fun stories.”
