Ida Mae MacLeod (nee McCarthy, Roode)
August 08, 1928 - January 28, 2023
Ida Mae MacLeod of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully, with many family members by her side, on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the young age of 94 years.
Ida was born in Truro, Nova Scotia but moved to Toronto in her early 20’s where she resided until she moved to Calgary in 1981. She spent a few years in Lanigan, SK between 2007 and 2010.
Ida is survived by her son, Terry (Lori) Roode; daughter, Bonnie (Keith) MacLeod; grandchildren, Alissa, Emma, Sean; Sarah, Matthew, MacKenzie; Zac, Nadine, Haley, Stephanie, and Josie; great grandchildren, Bryson, Jasper, Finley and Maria; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Sarah Melinda Purcell and Horace Daniel McCarthy; her husband, John Wm (Bill) MacLeod; siblings, Marg, Fulton and Norah; sons, John and Frank; and granddaughter, Breanna.
Known for her sense of humour, love of Elvis and Bingo, generosity and concern for the underdog, Ida will be greatly missed by many whose lives she touched. Ida made friends wherever she worked and lived - many whom she was still in touch with - Bernice, Mary Margaret (Toronto) and Corinne, Elsie, Ellen (Lanigan).
The family would like to thank the staff at Seton Age Care, Mahogany West, and the Recreation Team, for their patience and care for Ida over the past five plus years.
A Celebration of Ida’s Life will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Altadore Baptist Church (4304 – 16 Street SW, Calgary, AB).
