September 10, 1934 - July 10, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Neigel (nee Zylik) announce her passing on Sunday July 10, 2022 at Skyview Point Hospice in Calgary, AB, at the age of 87 years old. Helen was born on the family farm about 4 miles outside of Wishart, Saskatchewan on September 10, 1934. She moved to Calgary around 1952, where she resided for the past 70 years. Helen is survived by her three daughters, Michelle Neigel, Colleen Stewart (Larry Ethier ) and Janelle Shoemaker (Dave); six grandchildren, Rochelle, Tania, Jennifer, Branden, Colin and Garrett and four great-grandchildren, Avery, Brayden, Abbygail, and Nathan. She also is survived by three sisters, Nellie Chabra, Kathy Favero and Alona Piecowye as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Helen made many friends that touched her heart at Generations Multi-Generational Housing and Community Centre, where she resided until recently. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Josephine Zylik; sisters, Alice Cossar and Albina Spenst and brothers, Andy, John and Russ Zylik.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 23, 2022 at 10:30am at Choice Memorial Rocky View located at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery (243256 Garden Road NE, Rocky View, AB). Please join the family for lunch and refreshments following her Celebration of Life Service. Private Internment will be held on Monday July 25, 2022 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Calgary, AB. She will be forever treasured in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Stars Air Ambulance, a cause which Helen strongly supported. Please note due to the recent increase in Covid cases masks are required to be worn at the service while inside.
