Obituary for Frank Alexander Sperling

Frank Alexander Sperling
August 31, 1943 - April 15, 2024

Frank Sperling, passed away at the South Health Campus in Calgary, Alberta, on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the age of 80 years.

He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Lori Sperling of Airdrie; and Lynette Sperling (Tony) of Calgary: grandchildren, Stephanie, and Dennis; great grandchildren Penelope, and Darian; brother, Bob (Charlene); many nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Aloysius Sperling; mother, Eileen Sperling; sister, Betty Cousins; and brother, John Sperling

Frank was born in Calgary, Alberta, and spent nearly all his life in this city. His working life was a physical one, and work was never something he shirked. In his early post-school years, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in the Militia - a time he enjoyed and was proud of. Other jobs in Frank’s life were at the Firestone Tire Plant, taxi driver, and a school bus driver. His longest and most enjoyed work, however, was driving his own gravel truck. He loved the work and the people he worked with. As a driving professional, Frank understood the need for safety and to this end he attended weekly safety meetings, even after his retirement.

Frank was someone who was always willing to lend a hand to friends, neighbours, and family. He especially enjoyed his Sundays as a gathering time for family and friends.

A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Chapelhow, Br# 284 (606 - 38 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB).
