Obituary for Francis Vincent Walsh

It is with great sadness that the family of Francis Vincent “Vince” Walsh announce his sudden passing on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in his home in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 79. He was born July 19, 1944, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; the second of 7 children. He attended school in PEI, and after graduating from the University of PEI, he taught across various provinces, before settling in Calgary. Vince then spent numerous years exemplifying his passion to help others in the healthcare and service industries, and was an avid volunteer in his community, both through his parish involvement and his daily acts of kindness towards others.

Vince will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind nature, the endless supply of adages, poems, the jokes he committed to memory over the years, and most importantly his generous heart. His impact will live on through the treasured memories he made with those he interacted with throughout his lifetime.

Vince is survived by his wife, Josefina Walsh; daughter, Dorica (Eric) Boswell-Walsh; and son, Christopher Walsh. He is also survived by his siblings, Blanche McIver, Leo (Joan) Walsh, Maureen (Tom) Lawless, Frank (Loren) Walsh; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Anne Walsh; his son, Joseph Chester “JC” Walsh; sister, Lois Walsh; brother, Maurice Walsh; and brother-in-law, Eddie McIver.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church at 12:00 pm, with the viewing beginning at 11:00AM for all those who would like to pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Dr NE Calgary, Alberta).
