March 4, 1938 - January 7, 2023

Betty Besse passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary, AB at the age of 84 years.

She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Chery-Lynn Besse (Dave Oakley) of Calgary, AB; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and John Moffitt; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Ruth Sushetski; nephew, Jeff Sushetski his wife, Menah Scott and their two boys, Seth and Aaron; as well as niece, Jennifer Sushetski. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Helen Sushetski and her husband, Norman Besse.

Betty was born in Buchanan, Saskatchewan. She graduated as a Psychiatric Nurse at Selkirk, Manitoba in 1958 which was the beginning of her lifelong love of nursing. In 1960, she married Norman Besse and thev began their future together in Hinton, Alberta where they started their family with their only child Cheri. Betty worked at the Hinton General Hospital until her retirement in 1995. Betty and Norm made many.special and enduring friendships during their time in Hinton. Betty was able to take the trip of a lifetime and travel throughout Europe with her Mom, sister and best friend, Jeanette, and brother in law John. After Norm and Betty retired, travelling in their motorhome with friends was something that they enjoyed for many years. As Norm's health began to decline, Betty and Norm moved to Airdrie to be closer to Cheri. Betty continued with her innate caring nature and made Norm her priority until he passed in 2012. While Betty was still in good health she traveled to Phoenix a few times with Cheri and Dave, and went on several tropical trips with Jeanette and John.

Betty will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her. She was tiny in stature but always a huge presence.
The family would like to thank all the nurses at Airdrie Home Care and Cedarwood Station staff for the Care given to my mom while she was there.

A special thank you to the staff at Southwood Hospice for the incredible caring, kind, people that they are.
