Obituary for Daniel Wesley Van Norman

Daniel Wesley Van Norman passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the age of 87 years. Dan was born in Sudbury, Ontario on July 1, 1936. He married the love of his life, Kathleen (Kay) Kennedy, in Webbwood, Ontario where they had their three beautiful daughters together. Dan spent the majority of his life as a heavy equipment operator, which took him to many places all over Canada, leaving him with some amazing stories of special projects he had worked on.

Dan will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Danni-Lynn Flamenco (Ricardo, #1 son-in-law) of Calgary, Alberta, Sydney Hannem (Kevin, #1 son-in-law) of Calgary, Alberta, and Natalie Harju (Chad, #1 son-in-law) of Whitefish, Ontario; his surviving sister, Judy Ramsay; his grandchildren, Kyle Hannem (Kris), Koby Hannem (Hanna), Sheila Connelly (Quentin), Cameron Van Norman (Sam), Wade Gordon (Chloe), Braxtyn Harju, and Sara-Kay Flamenco; and of course his great-grandchildren, Mya Hannem, Riley Hannem, Olive Hannem, Irah Van Norman, Parker and Finley Connelly, who were the apple of his eye xo; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Donald (Daniel) and Blanche Van Norman; his brothers, Jack and Donald; his sisters, Barb Faulkner and Pat Vitone; his precious grandson, Richard Flamenco; and his beloved Kay.

Dan was known for his big heart and was loved by many for his sense of humor (often off-color, LOL). Dan enjoyed his retirement and meeting up with the FANTASTIC FOUR, known as the FOUR D’S by everyone who joined them (Doug, Diane, Don and Dan). He was a very special man to many and will be missed by his friends at the Cambrian Manor.

We were proud to call him Dad, Pops, Poppa, GG, Brother, Unk, and friend.
Dad, you will be missed by us all xo. Dan loved his grandchildren so much that donations can be made in lieu of flowers to DEBRA Canada for Epidermolysis Bullosa and Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada.

A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 1219 Lake Twintree Drive SE Calgary, Alberta from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
