Obituary for Cecile Dianne Monias

Cecile Dianne Monias was born in Imperial Mills, Alberta on March 9, 1967 and passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the age of 55.

Her parents were members of Heart Lake First Nations. Cecile moved to Calgary at a young age and was very blessed to have Brenda Wilson in her life. She went to school at St. Anne where she learned sign language and developed her own communication style. Cecile graduated from Assumption School and became a member of the Calgary Community Living Society. She moved into a lovely home with 2 roommates, Brenda and Louise.

Cecile lived in High River for a few years and then moved back to Calgary where she lived in her own home. She was surrounded by people that cared for her and about her. Cecile loved swimming and going on the highest of waterslides when she was younger. She loved being out in nature and sitting around a campfire, drumming circles, listening to music and funny movies and being barefoot.

Cecile will be sadly missed by Brenda Wilson, Dianne Werth, Bonnie Pacaud and the many other wonderful people that provided care and comfort to her over the years. Cecile’s final resting place will at Heart Lake First Nations with her family.

Just remember in the winter.
Far beneath the bitter snow.
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring, becomes the rose
