Obituary for Carolyn Elizabeth MacArthur

Carolyn, Elizabeth (Stokes)Macarthur

Carolyn Elizabeth Stokes/Macarthur of Rockyview County (Airdrie), Alberta passed away on Tuesday, Febuary 23, 2021, in the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary Alberta. Carolyn was born to Jack and Muriel Stokes in Montreal, Quebec on September 25, 1944. She grew up with her parents and grandparents as well as a foster child and helped to look after everyone in the family. Sixteen years later, Carolyn was graced with her beloved brother Keith Stokes! At the age of 15, she went to work full time at Sun Life Insurance Company in Montreal, and eventually became an accounting assistant and later a controller. She worked there for almost 20 years,

Then Carolyn got married and moved to Hartford Conneticut with her husband Don. In the early 1970's, they moved to Alberta where they worked at several businesses that they owned. After Carolyn's husband Don passed away, her younger brother Keith moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1973 and within a year, their parents joined them moving to Airdrie from Montreal. Carolyn then continued to work through the years as a bookkeeper and controller. In 1994, Carolyn began working at Adelmo's Automotive shop “Deltech Automotive” where Del and she worked together until the company closed in 2013. Eventually Del and Carolyn fell in love and started a new life together. In 2005 Del and Carolyn purchased their acreage home together near Airdrie and lived there until her passing.

Carolyn loved animals, especially her cats, all 14 of them, for many years. She would always feed stray animals and always have treats on hand for other pets that would visit. Everyone who knew Carolyn loved her for her straightforward approach, and her "black and white" but witty personality! She was always willing to help anyone, anywhere, and supported many charities as well. Although Carolyn’s life was full of challenges, she was strong, and got through them with courage and dignity. We can still still hear her saying "God all Friday" and to her favorite people, "God Love ya!

Carolyn was loved by Del's parents, Silvestro and Vittorina Sciore and gained a sister and brother-in-law, in Aurora and Richard Musto. Many wonderful and chaotic times were had at all of the family gatherings, including David, Michael (Aimee), and Jessica, and Cormac and Etta Musto too! She will also be remembered by our cousins, Anna (Bob) Nowakowski, their daughter Andrea and Lucy Buccini and her sons Stefan and Nicholas Parker. Uncle Pasquale and Aunt Albina Buccini, and many other relatives here and in Italy all also grieve her passing.

Carolyn is survived by many who loved her including her beloved partner, Adelmo (Del) Sciore; his daughters, Chantel (Jack) Cruikshank, and Rachel Sciore; her treasured niece, Chrystal (James) Lelonde and their adorable boys, Jackson and Parker, as well as her nephew, Micheal Stokes and her sister-in-law, Brenda Stokes. She was broken hearted at the loss of her brother Keith in 2015 and spoke about him and praised him everyday.
Carolyn also leaves behind her lifelong friends who were considered family, Patrick and Kathy Wiggins; her god-daughter, Tracey (Russell), and son, Kanin; Debbie; son, Matthew, and Clint (Rebecca) Wiggins and their children, Cameron, and Eloise.."Her Girls” as she referred to them, Tracey and Debbie, spent the last few months helping to look after Carolyn and saw her through her final days.

Carolyn will be missed but not forgotten by all who knew her.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at Choice Memorial Services. This service is by invitation only as strict Covid regulations apply and a maximum of 20 people are allowed to attend. A big Irish/Italian wake at Carolyn's and Del's acreage will follow when restrictions are lifted!

Thanks to all of the Healthcare staff at AHS, the Palliative Team at Airdrie Home Care, Tom Baker Cancer Center, The Dulcina Hospice and our family doctor, Phillip Dewaal in Airdrie.
