Obituary for Carol Amy Jacks (Diller)

Carol Amy Jacks lost her courageous and vigilant battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, four weeks after losing her beloved husband, Barry. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Carol was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba, the third child of Joyce and Andy Diller who met the love of her life, Barry Jacks while attending Vincent Massey High School. Carol and Barry married in 1969, soon after relocating to Beausejour, Manitoba where they started their family. They moved their way out west in 1981 and settled in Calgary, Alberta where they continued to raise their two children, Sherry and Shawn.

Carol was a dedicated mother staying home to care for her two children in their primary years. She also opened their home to other families in need of childcare in various towns throughout the years. As her children grew and became of age she attained a part time position with the Credit Union in the small town of Cut Knife Saskatchewan which ultimately lead to her career of 23 years within the Royal Bank of Canada once settled in Calgary.

Carols love of travel started in her early years of marriage with Barry traveling to Hawaii for their honeymoon and continuing with returning trips with the kids. Accompanying the trips to Hawaii, camping became one of her true passions, starting with traveling back to Manitoba in their tent trailer for family vacations, and continuing through various trips through BC, USA and Northern Alberta. Carol loved all forms of travel including cruises and all inclusive resorts to reunite with friends and family
Carol along with Barry purchased a 5th wheel as their permanent home and retired in 2006. They spent 15 years traveling the USA, visiting sought after locations, then ultimately deciding to settle in Palm Springs for the winter. They spent the summer months back in Canada where they became the faces of the Pine Lake Leisure campground. Carol greeted guests as they checked in at the entry gate and Barry looked after mowing the grounds.

Carol will be known as the “life of the party”. Very sociable and never afraid of a good time. She loved to meet new people, know them fully, open her arms and home to those who needed it. She was extremely proud of her family and always conveyed to others the accomplishments of her children and their success. She provided continued support to her five granddaughters as they sought guidance and encouragement while navigating the entrance to adulthood.

Carol was the loving mother of daughter, Sherry Jacks and son, Shawn (Julie) Jacks. She will be lovingly remembered by her five granddaughters, Alyssa (Lucas) Dinn, Stephanie Huck, Ashley Huck, Charlize Jacks and Keara Jacks; one great granddaughter, Charlotte Dinn; siblings, Mildred Diller and Ron Diller. Carol was predeceased by her husband, Barry Jacks; father, Andrew Diller; mother Joyce Diller; and brother, Leon Diller.

A Celebration of Life and Love on Mom & Dad’s 53 Wedding Anniversary will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 3:00 pm. Lynx Ridge Golf Club, 8 Lynx Ridge Boulevard, Calgary, AB.
