Obituary for Blake Roger Termeer

Blake Roger Termeer died on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 62 in Calgary, Alberta. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was diagnosed with ALS in December 2020; he has faced this disease with grace and dignity and has joined his beloved Saviour Jesus Christ in eternal glory.

Blake was born in Carman, Manitoba on February 7, 1962, the third of four sons born to Terry and Lieske Termeer. He was raised to love and follow our Lord Jesus Christ and spent his entire life in service to his heavenly Father. He married his best friend and loving wife, Mary Ann, on October 12, 1984, and they made their home in Calgary/Chestermere Alberta, raising eight children. Blake worked as a diesel mechanic and later in Public Works and Emergency Management for the City of Chestermere. He lived to serve and spent many years volunteering as a firefighter, as an elder in his church, and with Samaritan’s Purse in disaster relief.

Blake’s greatest joy was his family, and he spent his life deeply loving his wife, delighting in raising his children, working faithfully with his hands, and in his later years enjoying his 14 grandchildren – Braxton, Dominique, Madilyn, Maxin, Aria, Kaiyen, Gabrielle, Naveya, Delaney, Barrett, Carlee, Owen, Sage, and Odette.

Blake is survived and dearly missed by his beloved wife Mary Ann, and his eight children: Pamela (Darcy) Werkman, Stacey (Sean) Vanderveen, Lori (Andrew) Bos, Curtis (Melissa) Termeer, Bradly (Jordan) Termeer, Darren (Carley) Termeer, Brian Termeer, Marcel Termeer (Hannah Agdalpen), as well as his father Terry Termeer and brothers Charlie (Joanne) Termeer and Paul (Arlene) Termeer and many more extended family members. He is predeceased by his mother Lieske Termeer and brother Allan Termeer and several preborn grandchildren.

A Funeral Service for Blake is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Garden Road Seventh-Day Adventist Church, at 12:30 pm. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS Society’s annual fundraising walk at Mary Ann Termeer – Betty’s Run for ALS (akaraisin.com)
