Obituary for Allan Barclay Hambrook

JUNE 12, 1937 – April 30, 2021

Allan (Al) Hambrook, beloved husband of Hazel Hambrook of Rocky View County, Alberta, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2021 at the age of 83 years.

Al was raised in Calgary, Alberta where he lived most of his life until recent years where he and Hazel shared a family farm with son Shane and daughter-in-law Christina in Rocky View County.

Al had a lifelong interest in horses and a passion for birds, most particularly raising pigeons. Horses and pigeons were not the only creatures he was interested in, he always had facts or a story to share about other animals and bees. He had a deep love for his family, always interested in what was “new”, always wanting to hear what everyone was “up to”. He was a fun and loving husband, dad and granddad who supplied unusual pets, baked with kids, created great adventures, and had a witty sense of humour.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Hazel, daughters Sandra, Janice, Tammy, and son Shane (Christina); sister Violet Pounder, brother Mark Hambrook (Drena); as well as 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Al is predeceased by his parents Mark and May; sisters Gladys, Audrey, Sheila; brothers Dave, Lorne, Johnny, and daughter Debbie-Lynn (2013).

A celebration of Al’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Allan’s behalf to the Canadian Lung Association or charity of your choice.
