Gary Soroka
May 4th, 1946 - Thursday, October 5th, 2017

Gary Soroka, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 5, 2017. He will be forever in our hearts and lovingly remembered for his huge heart, his never-ending jokes, his big moustache and his ability to light up a room with his larger-than-life personality.

Gary was born in Ontario on May 4, 1946 and made the move out west as a young man. He settled in Calgary in 1979 and, together with his wife, Donna, began a successful construction business that spanned over 35 years. His retirement in 2017 was a celebrated milestone.

Gary dedicated countless hours to the sport of hockey and to his impressive garden. He was also very passionate about fishing and all sports. The true joy of Gary’s life, however, was his family.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Donna, daughter Jillian (Scott), son Peter and daughter Kristen. He is survived also by his mother Emily, sister Pat (Gerry), two granddaughters, Emma and Sophie and numerous extended family. Gary was predeceased by his father, Peter Soroka.

A Celebration of Gary’s abundant life will be held at Westside Kings Church (3939 69 St SW, Calgary, AB T3H 3Y1) on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 12:00 pm.
