Obituary for Larry Grant Wilde

Larry Wilde
October 29th, 1945 - Sunday, February 17th, 2019

It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Larry Grant Wilde, age 73 of Craven, Saskatchewan. Larry passed away peacefully, Sunday Feb 17, 2019 at his home in Okotoks, AB. Larry was pre-deceased by his father, Frank; mother, Emma; brother, Wayne; and sisters, Doreen and Edna. Larry is survived by his brother Eddy(Nellie); his beautiful wife, Sylvia; his oldest son Kent (Ali); and youngest son, Chad (Lis); along with many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Larry grew up with his brothers and sisters on a farm in Craven, Saskatchewan, before moving to Regina, Saskatchewan. After moving to Regina, he met his future wife Sylvia Rose Soveran, where they were married April 23, 1966. On Sept 24, 1968, their first son Kent David was born in Regina. After a few years living in Saskatchewan, the family moved to Calgary, AB in 1973. On Dec 11, 1974 their second son Chad Alan was born in Calgary.

Larry had a long and successful 50 year career in meat industry, starting off as butcher and working his way up to sales manager at various companies. He was very hard working and passionate at every job he took on. Larry had many interests outside of work, his greatest passion was travelling to Mexico with his wife Sylvia, they went at least twice a year for 40+ years. Larry and Sylvia loved Mexico, it was their home away from home. Larry was also a golfing fanatic, playing golf every weekend with his son’s Kent and Chad. Larry also loved his football, especially the Saskatchewan Roughriders, it was love/hate relationship with those Riders, but he always said, “Bleed Green”. Larry also loved dogs, and had many over the years, but he especially had 2 that touched his heart, Midnight who passed away at age 16 in 2006 and currently Lilly who is 13, who he absolutely loved and adored. Larry was very proud of his family and will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of a Funeral Service, a Celebration of Life for Larry will be held March 2, 2019 at Mr Schnapps Bar 1440 52nd Street NE, from 3pm to 7pm. We encourage all friends and family to come and celebrate the life of a great and proud man.
