Obituary for Arnold Cecil Strand
Arnold Strand
July 22nd, 1934 - Wednesday, February 6th, 2019
On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, Arnold (Arnie) Strand, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at the age of 84.
Arnie was born on July 22, 1934 in Bowsman, Manitoba to Frances & Arthur Strand. At the age of 23, Arnie married the love-of-his-life Adelaide (Ella), celebrating almost 62 years together.
Arnie had a few careers, including working as a Correctional Officer and as a Special Constable with the RCMP. After moving to Calgary in 1975, he became a successful entrepreneur which enabled him to retire at the age of 55.
As younger retirees, Arnie and Ella travelled all over the US as snow birds for 20 seasons, and through 15 cruises, got to explore many other parts of the world. He had a creative side which included dabbling in different forms of artwork and he had a keen eye for photography. He will be remembered for the pride he took in a job well done, for keeping his vehicles immaculate, being very prompt and never paying a dime of interest to any credit card company. Although his health declined in the later years, his sense of humour, did not.
Arnie was a devoted husband and an available, hands-on father to four children; Kathy, Carolyn, Glen and Lisa and a proud grandpa of eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. “A life well-spent will be a life well-remembered.”
A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 1:00-4:00 pm in the Friendship Room at 428 Chaparral Ravine View SE.
