WILSON, Arthur "Art" John Higgins

Arthur John Higgins Wilson, 66, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Calgary Alberta.

Art was born in Gainsborough, SK to Gordon and Edith Wilson on September 29, 1952. He lived in many small towns, following his father’s United Church placements. He completed High School in Vauxhall, AB. Art married Patricia Poth on August 30, 1980 in Calgary, Alberta. He graduated from SAIT as a machinist and worked at the trade for several years. He branched out into self-employment, attempting Amway, Olde World and real estate. He eventually joined Coca-Cola Bottling and spent most of his days working on the can line in manufacturing. After he retired from Coke after 29 years of service, he went to a part time position with Southland Transportation driving school bus, an occupation which allowed him to interact with children and get out of the house for part of the day. He was involved in the hobbies of model railroading and RC airplanes.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Edith, and in-laws, Jerry, Ray, Irvin and Glenda.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patricia; their two sons, Spencer (Annie) and Cameron; Art’s only grandchild, Calleigh; his two sisters, Sandra (Dave) Hamilton and Linda (Ron) Dick and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws, Eileen (Neil) Thiessen, Audrey Ellerman, and Terry (Mona) Poth.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Art’s memory.

The family of Arthur Wilson wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Emergency services of Calgary, staff at South Health Campus, and special thanks to Cathy, their social worker.
