Obituary for Marilyn Anne Bentley (Harvie)

Marilyn Anne Bentley (nee Harvie)
May 27th, 1943 - Friday, October 5th, 2018

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister Marilyn. Early on in life Marilyn was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. She enjoyed bowling, softball, hunting, camping, and fishing. Marilyn experienced trauma in her life, and rose above to lead as an example of one who can move forward without excuse. She enjoyed the life that Calgary had to offer, including the Stampede which she attended faithfully year after year. Marilyn spent years volunteering with the Scout movement with her sons. She left us knowing that she was loved and cared for.

Marilyn will be truly missed by her siblings Ewen (Tracy), Delphine (Frank), Dale, Curtis (Rose), Barry (Kim), and Allan (Donna); sons Robert and William; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her mother Gertrude in 1982, her father Allan in 1993, and sister Trudy (Harold) in 2013.

Marilyn wanted to thank her multitude of friends, family, and extended family for giving her a truly wonderful life. She also wanted all to know that should you ever need her, just think about a time you shared together and she will be there. Our family would like to thank all the staff at Calgary Foothills CCU and EMS who cared for her.

Marilyn wished that a Celebration of Life luncheon be enjoyed, which will be planned for her favorite month of May in 2019. Her ashes will be interred in Alberton, PEI. At Marilyn's request, no service or viewing will be held. In lieu of flowers & cards, donations may be made to the local branch of Scouting Canada.
