Obituary for Richard "Dick" Hugh Hayes

Richard "Dick" Hugh Hayes
HAYES. Richard (Dick) Hugh
September 27, 1944 – Innisfail, Alberta
August 24, 2018 - Calgary, Alberta

Richard (Dick) Hugh Hayes passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Dick was predeceased by his parents Charles and Hazel Hayes. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Myra; sons, Kevin and Clifford (Jennifer) and his grandchildren Jarah and Griffin. Dick is also survived by his brother Charles (Brenda), brother Ken (Linda) and several nieces and nephews.

Dick loved his family and took great pride in the joy that being a Grandfather brought to his and Myra’s life. Dick was very active as a young man hiking throughout the Canadian Rockies always looking for the perfect vantage point to view the vast prairies of Alberta. In retirement, Dick spent many days fishing in the Bow River and biking along the many trails Calgary offers. Dick discovered a passion for Paleontology and spent a great deal of time combing through the badlands of the Drumheller region, looking to discover a prized fossil treasure.

Dick worked in the Agriculture industry for over 35 years with the Canadian Grain Commission and Alberta Pool (later Agricore) retiring at the age of 55. Dick was a hard-working, honest, dependable man and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and relatives. A special thank you to the Doctors and staff of the Rockyview hospital for their kindness and compassion during his final days.
