Obituary for William Gordon Crawford

William Gordon Crawford
William Gordon Crawford
October 6, 1959 - June 16, 2018

Will, Papa, Bubba passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the age of 59 years. Will leaves behind his beloved son Steven Crawford and Steve's mother Bonnie; daughter Lori; grandkids Daniel, Jordan, Joscelin and Joshua; his sister Kathleen (Kevin) Ward, and many friends in Victoria, BC. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Clarence Gordon Crawford of North Vancouver, where Will grew up.

Will worked in auto repair and painting and blind installation for his sister's company. Will moved to Victoria, where he attended two colleges before working as a computer field technician for 7 years. He then became a tool manger in construction, a fishing boat deck hand, then onto working for a short time at Esquimalt Dry Dock, before finally finding his knack for working in retail hardware and tool sales, which he loved.

Will was kind, gentle yet strong, loving and intuitive, and cared about other’s needs. He was always there to help in any way he could. The love of his life was his only son, so he followed Steven to Calgary in 2017 to live close by while working at Tool Rental/Sales in northeast Calgary. Will had talent and skill for fixing anything technical or mechanical, from an engine or tool to a tiny tangled piece of jewelry. He was determined and enjoyed the challenge of fixing a problem.

Will was always a kid at heart and encouraged the family to have fun. He loved having kids around as an excuse to go kite flying, watch fireworks, or buy them just the right toy. He loved his video games; music from Pink Floyd to The Phantom of the Opera; movies and you tube documentaries; but he was also a lover of the outdoors and planned to go camping again on a road trip, panning for gold. He loved to go to garage sales and would even pretend to like shoe shopping, if he thought it would make someone happy. He'd cook for everybody and loved to come up with manly recipes like his extra meaty spaghetti sauce, his home made lasagna, or chocolate cake with cherries. He didn't like to worry too much, although he did, so he created fun for everyone.

Forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Will’s Life will be planned in the near future. To view and share photos, condolences and stories of Will please visit www.choicememorial.com.
