Obituary for Phyllis Marguerite Humeny (Dermott)

Phyllis Marguerite Humeny (Dermott)
Phyllis Marguerite Humeny (Dermott)
February 7, 1935 – June 17, 2018

Phyllis passed away peacefully at home, with her daughter Kelly by her side. After saying a prayer to her late husband Bill on Father’s Day, Phyllis knew it was time to join him. Phyllis was not the type to sit back and miss out on the fun, even during her short battle with cancer.

The legacy of Phyllis’ kind spirit, positive demeanor, passion for baking, love for her garden and zest for life will live on through her children: Kelly, Shirley (Larry) and Tom (Deb), as well as, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Phyllis married William Andrew Humeny on September 3, 1955 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. As a military family, they travelled the world, making memories and growing their family of five. After retirement the happy couple settled in Camrose, Alberta where they proudly built their dream home together. After losing her husband, Phyllis eventually settled in Calgary where she lived out the remainder of her life. Throughout those years Phyllis enjoyed travelling to see friends and family to continue making lasting memories with loved ones. Phyllis cared for her family with all her heart, through her words, her love and her cookies. Phyllis’ positive approach to life allowed her to bring out the best in any situation and her smile warmed the hearts of those around her.

Although her song has ended, her melody will live on.
