James “Tiny” Barry Groves
February 5th, 1953 - Friday, April 13th, 2018

James (Jim or Tiny to his family and friends) passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer on Friday April 13, 2018 at the age of 65. James was cherished and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his 3 children: Dean Groves, Kyle Groves and Jerold Groves all of Calgary; 11 siblings: Fred Groves of Brampton, ON, Butch (Gail) Groves of Medicine Hat, Neil (Jennifer) Groves of Medicine Hat, Bertha Russell of Calgary, Alice Somers of Calgary, Catherine (Ralph) of Abbotsford, BC, Dora Groves of Enderby, BC, Larry Groves of Calgary, Morris Groves of Calgary, Maria Kinsella of Olds, Loretta Ferguson of Didsbury. and many nieces and nephews. James is predeceased by his parents: Neil Groves and Loretta Kinsella, and his 2 brothers: Matthew Groves and Sidney Groves.

James was born in Sudbury, ON and moved to Calgary with his family in 1965, he was 12 years old. The family then moved to BC when James was 14 years old. As an adult he moved to Vancouver, BC in 1977 where James and Diane had their 3 boys, and he worked as a roofer and painter. He then moved to Calgary in 1992 where he pursued his passion as a heavy-duty mechanic. He met his most recent Love of his life Kimberly (Berly) in 2002. James was highly respected and loved by his family and co-workers. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and playing crib. James will be missed by all who knew him, but we will never forget him.

A second Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday April, 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Border Crossing Pub in Calgary 1814 – 36 Street S.E.
