Obituary for Elaine Marie Vadeboncoeur (Scott)

Elaine Marie Vadeboncoeur (Scott)
Elaine Vadeboncoeur
April 6th, 1938 - December 13th, 2017

With tremendous grief we announce that our beautiful light on earth will now be shining down upon us from above. Elaine has left us physically, but her glowing love remains within our hearts. Elaine Marie Vadeboncoeur (Scott), 79, of Calgary was surrounded by family as she departed on December 13, 2017 in Calgary.

Elaine has joined her husband, Benoit Joseph Albert Vadeboncoeur, who had passed before her in September of 1963. She is also pre-deceased by her parents Ken and Ruth Scott. She will be sadly missed by her brother Gordon (Barbara) Scott, her sister Joyce (Al) Harvey, her aunty Pat Scott, and many nieces and nephews. Elaine’s memories have been created with and left for her son Lenard Vadeboncoeur, and her daughters Kari-Leigh Vadeboncoeur, Victoria Vadeboncoeur, and Linda Laatch (Paskalis Dagalis). She is deeply loved by her grandchildren Nick Vadeboncoeur, Alex Vadeboncoeur, Justin Ball, Jessica (Cole) VanderRoest, Garrett (Stacey) Webb, Mitch Webb, Kristin Swanberg (Brad Bergerman), Madison (Corey) Wiltsey, and Riley Swanberg. As well, her beloved little great- grandchildren Koen and Austin VanderRoest, Seth Bergerman and Savannah Webb. Elaine is fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Steve (Virginia) Vadeboncoeur, and her sisters-in-law Theresa (Hank) Schulte and Christine Cuthbertson.

Elaine was known to embrace strangers as friends and welcome friends as family. There was always a place at the table for anyone. Despite financial challenges, her generosity was of sacrificial proportions. Elaine was the epitome of ‘grace’ as she lived her beliefs and values regardless of any situation or challenge. She showed and shared unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness, kindness, and humour to all in her presence. As an animal lover, her pets have included birds, cats, dogs, racoons, a fawn, and yes . . . even a frog! Animals were equally showered with her limitless love. As a single mother, her children were always her priority and concern up until her very last breath.

Elaine was very dedicated to her career with the Calgary Police Service from May of 1978 until her retirement in September of 2002. The many recognition letters she received over the years were a clear reflection of her outstanding service within the Identification Unit. She was well respected by her peers and the service men and women of both the CPS and the RCMP.

Someday, when fades the golden sun, Beneath the rosy tinted west, My Blessed Lord will say, … “Well done!” And I will enter into rest.

Our family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Newport Harbour Care Centre and Choice Memorial for the respect and care shown to her.

A service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 06, 2018 at The Cuff & Billy to celebrate Elaine’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Calgary
